Duct Installation

What do you know about your Ductwork? A lot of people think that ducts move heated or cooled air from point A to point B. This is true but there is more to it. Your ductwork can play a part in your energy bills also. The ducts in you home need to be just the right size to work properly. If you duct work is too wide the air will just fill them up and move slowly through your home. When your ductwork is too small it will be the same as you breathing through a straw! Your air conditioner work hard enough as it is, there is no need to have its air flow restricted. Fahrenheit Mechanicals has been working in Chicago for over 19 years. What does HVAC mean?

HVAC (pronounced h-vack or spelled out) stands for Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning. The three functions of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning are closely interrelated. What's causing my ductwork to pop when the furnace starts or stops?

A popping disturbance is a typically sign of an under-sized duct design. It may have to do with greater air flow than the duct work can handle.  Improper duct work layout can cause a number of ventilation and air quality problems, including:

  1. excessive noise
  2. higher energy consumption
  3. lowered lifespan of the system
  4. uneven heating & cooling throughout your home
  5. damaged compressor in summer
  6. overheated unit in the cooler months

Why should I replace my working furnace or air conditioner?

Although your present furnace or air conditioner may be working, if it is more than 12 years old you should consider replacing it with a new high efficiency system. A new heating and air conditioning system could save up to 50 percent on energy costs, and save you money in the long run on heating repairs. While these products save you money on your utility bills, they also offer a better degree of comfort within your home.
